Kiwi-Sport = TOUCH!! #2

Today for touch it was our coaches last day with so we will be getting a different person next week.We started practice with a game which was very hard (in my opinion) and did some warm-ups. When we started to actually play it started to very intense and I was getting more and more competitive by the minute.
Like every other lesson, I had a lot of fun and I have learnt a lot in each lesson.

Sailing With Volvo

20151112_114244.jpg
On the morning of November 12th 2015, Room 7 went to Kohimarama beach in the the city, I had a great experience and a great time…

Once I got to school we started to get in the van and enjoy the ride that was coming ahead of us. While we were in the van we started to take photos and listen to music on my phone. We eventually got to our destination we saw the sails parked next to each other on a balcony. Our instructor’s name was Ruben and he taught us how to set up the Sail and how to control it. By the time we got in the water we had our life jackets and rain jackets on, it was very uncomfortable but I managed to get used to it.

We split in half so the other half went in the boat first while the others stayed on the Beach. I had a lot of trouble getting in the boat and controlling but I suddenly I got the hang of it . While I was on the sailboat I looked back at the beach and saw Sonya waving, “Bye Aurora” she yelled. I started chuckling and turned back around and continued having a fun time. I felt the wind blowing my hair and the little splashing caused by my boat. When I reached back to the beach Sonya and the other group was waiting patiently for the partners to come back. After everybody had 2 turns each, Mr. Slade said we had to have Lunch and head back to school.

Our instructor said the girls can get changed in the trailer while the boys get changed at the back of the Sail House on the balcony. When everybody had finished changing we had our lunch and I started making small talk with the girls and making some videos with them. While we were eating Ruben our instructor gave out certificates, “You were probably the best group I had” he stated. After a little while we saw the School van pull up and the next group came and I started running up to my best friend Ierei.

They started gearing up and we started getting in the van, but there was a slight problem. Justin and Paul couldn’t fit in the van so Mrs. Jeeney rang Mr. Coakley to pick them up and we drove away and went back to school.

I had so much fun Sailing and the best part was we didn’t have to go with partner and I also had fun playing on the beach and making Sandcastles. This was so far the best day of the week.

PAT Maths Test

Today's test was very overwhelming because maths is one of my weakest subjects in school.

I was so frustrated when I was doing the test because it was getting harder by the minute but I tried my VERY BEST.
When I finished the test I was very happy because it was finished.
I hope I did well.

Kiwi-Sport = TOUCH!!!

IMG_3112.JPG
Today was my first day of Kiwi sport and this term it is ‘Touch.’ I wouldn't consider myself  fan of sport but I’m okay with this sport because it is fun.

When we first started I didn't know what to do but in the end I got the hang and it was really fun. I felt really ecstatic when I played because I did some exercise and had a good time.

Wedding Shopping

Sunday the 11th of October was the last day of the school holidays and the day that I went wedding shopping with the bride and my mum.

Before we left we had a divine breakfast then we left for our journey. Firstly we drove all the way to Takanini to pick up heart shaped soaps for the guest that are coming to the wedding. After picking up the 180 soaps, we stored them back at my aunt's house. Later on in the afternoon we decided to go visit my cousin Caroline. When we got to her house I stayed in the car while my mum and my aunty talked for almost 4 hours. When they finished their ‘little get-together’, we headed back home for dinner. We had Curry and Roti with a few sauces as dip. Soon after the big dinner we decided to watch Big Hero Six because my mum kept on nagging us to watch it and so we did.

When the movie finished My mum and I agreed to go back home to our family so we folded our blankets and placed them in the boot of the car. When we got home I went in the shower straight away, after freshening up a bit, it was 10 o’clock and time to get ready for bed.

After a long day I went to get some rest for school the next day.

An Amazing Day

Today was very joyful. It was full of laughter, dancing, and singing.

The first part of the day was The Grandparents Mass, which was prepared wonderfully and I'm sure the Grandparents really enjoyed it. After the mass we took the Grandparents to the library to prepare them some morning tea. When the Grandparents finished their morning tea they were very satisfied with how we served them.

Later in the day, the school gathered in the hall for the Speech competition, I was one of the competitors and my speech was about Life & Death. After all the Speeches, the judges went outside to choose because as they said, "It was a tough decision." But when they did make their decision, they announced the winners.

The winner from the year 5's was Anna-Lisa, the winner from the year 6's was Ana-Lei, the winner from the year 7's was Patrick and the winner from the year 8's was.... Me

I was so dumbfounded and overwhelmed because I thought it was going to be my classmate Jane but I actually won so I was really happy.

My highlight for the day was winning the Speech competition and having the Grandparents come to the mass.

Overall I had an amazing day and the whole day I was smiling.

Because of God, family always Supports and Loves me with all they have. In my family I see God in each and everyone of them because they have Love for me like God does.
I learnt to find a sign of God in family by learning to appreciate them.

St Pius X Feast Day 2015

St Pius X Feast Day

St Pius X feast day was a great day. First the day started off with a church service which was very, very quiet and peaceful. When the school finished having their quiet time Room 7 went to set the chairs into a circle for the whole school. Finishing the chairs, the school came out of the court and sat on a seat, Oscar and Aniseko began to cut through the cake and we cheered. When we finished with our cheers the girls from Room 7 handed out the cake to the kids and then the Seniors. After a Beautiful, sunny morning the rest of the day was all relaxing.

The Under Water World

Shark TunnelIMG_0672.JPG
My trip to Kelly Tarltons was phenomenal. I was very interested in all the Sea creatures, especially the Sea Turtle because they just glided through the water and it just looked so majestic.

When we arrived at our destination, the whole school got into 1 line and entered the underwater world, we descended down the stairs. Our first stop was at the Penguins, the Penguins were very adorable and most of them looked like they were sleeping. When we finished with the Penguins we all arrived in a place were it had a Giant Squid which had its brain on the side of it, it looked pretty disgusting. It also had some beautiful Jelly Fish, some were glow in the dark and some were just clear. After examining those creatures the next thing so happened to be Stingrays and Hapuka Fish swimming in a large tank. While we were there we all decided to have Morning Tea. After having a snack the host came out and she started informing us about how Stingrays live and what they eat, she also said that the two Stingrays were girls and they all have the same names which is Phoebe.
When we were done exploring the Stingrays world we headed towards the sharks habitat which was a walkway tunnel. We went around two times non-stop because we were waiting for Mrs Tui. When she finally arrived we climbed the steps and saw a lot of small tanks, one had Eels, another had lobsters, and the last one had a sleeping octopus. When we finished exploring we went into the Seahorse Kingdom, we examined the Seahorses especially the Spiny Sea Dragon.
Finally we went to the “School Room” were we had to watch this girl present a presentation about Pollution in the Sea. I was dumbfounded about what she was talking about and I didn’t know that we were doing that stuff too the Sea Creatures.
After a long week of excitement, that trip was definitely worth waiting for and I’m glad the school took us there.

How Maui Slowed The Sun

Kia Ora

For Maori language week my group have been working on a Maori myth called " How Maui slowed the Sun." Our group did an illustration for the class to see and for visitors to see and complement us. Because it is a myth its not true because in the scientists mythology, the sun doesn't move only the earth moves around the sun, but Maoris believe this story.

I Hope everybody likes it.

Lectio Divina

From learning the Lectio Divina I wrote a prayer in response:

Dear Lord

You said we should all be thankful. Please help me to be thankful for what I have and what you have given to me.

Amen

When I first heard of Lectio Divina I didn't know what it meant, but from today's lesson in Religious Education I learnt that....
Lectio Divina is a traditional prayer
and is a prayerful reading.

Retreat

It was on a Thursday morning last week May 21st, I woke up from a sleepless night, excited, I couldn’t wait to go to our class retreat in Mt Roskill. I was the first from my class to arrive and soon after Pepe rocked on up, it didn’t take long for the rest to arrive before we all car-pooled to go.
My car-pool was with Salote, Lupe, Sonya, Jane, Catherine. Salote’s brother-in-law was kind enough to drop us to hill borough . It was a rowdy funky music drive all the way, and thank goodness the trip was under an hour, more than that, I would’ve lost my hearing.
When we got to our destination we were allocated into our groups.  Yours truly was paired up with Catherine and Jane.  Brother Philip went through some house rules with us, such as taking shoes off before entering the house.
The two days was very interesting as it forced me to understand and work alongside Catherine and Jane as it was not what I was used to in class. The learning I got from being with Catherine and Jane was to put aside any negativity and get on with whatever tasks needed to be done. Our first activity was a treasure hunt, Brother Phillip gave us each of our groups a clue, then we were off for our adventure. Supper was after the big day of activities. Lasagne with potato wedges and mixed veggies for dinner. After supper had ended and we all ran upstairs to our bedroom, then a few minutes after resting we headed to the meeting room to play some games. The day ended when everyone had a shower before nine o’clock…. lights out. Most of the girls were scared even me so I slept with Ierei and we had our own little conversation with because we are best friends so to us it was normal to sleep in the same bed. After a while of talking we both went into a deep sleep.

The next day was when we have to check-out of the retreat centre and hit the road back to school. The experience forced me to work in a team and learn from others. It was kind of like camp, it was heart breaking when we left at least I had a great experience there and it was so fun.

Room 7's First Swimming Lesson

IMG_0029.JPG
On the 13th of may 2015 Room 7 went for their first swimming lesson in the swimming pool at the court.

We went from 12:00 - 12:30, I wasn't involved in swimming because I had a fever, when we got to the pool a lady named Pam greeted us, then we went into the pool (well the people that were swimming actually) it was funny because everybody was splashing (even though when you swim your not aloud to splash) and screaming because the water was cold. There were two instructors and there names are Joseph and Emma, there were two groups 1 and 2, group 1 was the group that had the people that were learning how to swim and group 2 were the people that were familiar in swimming.

Soon after that, each group got floaties and did streamline. Finally when everybody the lesson was done and they got out they were all drenched then went to the bathroom to get changed.

My swimming experience was awesome even though I didn’t swim.

HOKULEA

At 8:55 we started walking to Pt England beach to be part of the welcome the navigators and the “HOKULEA”. I was so fierce that while we were walking I was about to walk home “because we were on the street that actually goes to my house, while we were walking Ierei and I was talking and Talking all the way to the beach. When we got to the beach I was surprised that everybody was already there waiting for us but at least the canoe hadn't arrived yet so that was good. We welcomed them with the 3 wiata’s we practiced for 2 weeks. ( E Oho, Nga Waka Kupu and He Honore) We stood up and sang and while I was singing my throat got a little sore, after we we finished singing the navigators sang their songs and said some speeches. Suddenly each school one at a time went to shake hands with the navigators and after that we started walking back to school. Then Mr Gaffney ran up to us while we were walking and said there is an extra bus and Ierei and I thought it like a miracle that we got that bus. So we walked over to the bus and Room 1 was in there so we were like “OH great” but it was okay because they weren't annoying it was the Room 6 people that were being so noisy. When we got back to school we all thought there was going to be a surprise morning tea like Mr Coakley said but “Oh Know we didn't so I was so angry again because I only brang a sandwich to school, finally school ended and I went to G.I.
